Mark Philippoussis Stars in Age of Love on NBC… But Who is Philippoussis?
NBC is advertising the hell out of their new show Age of Love where the star chooses between “kittens and cougars” - in other words young and old women. But the commericials strangely don’t mention that the star of the show is a former tennis player: Mark Philippoussis. I hope he turns out to be a ridiculous reality personality that New York or one of her charm girls… that would makes men’s tennis fun for once.

Mark Philippoussis Goes Cougar Hunting… Unfortunately for him, the ladies are old enough to be his mother (and some of their children are actually his age)
Mark Anthony Philippoussis (born November 7, 1976 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian tennis player. He turned professional in 1994 and as of 2007 resides in Nevada, USA. He regards himself as both Australian and Greek, and as a child spoke Greek as his first language though his mother is Italian. He has also had a minor career in modeling and is the star of the American reality television dating show Age of Love.
His Tennis Fall from grace
The honeymoon period with the Australian public, however, did not last. 2004 proved a disastrous year in terms of his tennis career and public profile. After shouldering most of the blame for losing Australia’s Davis Cup tie with Sweden with an unexpected below par performance, Philippoussis struggled through to the Wimbledon fourth round in June 2004.
From Wimbledon in June until the end of the season in October, he failed to win a single ATP tennis match and finished with one of his lowest ever rankings since turning professional in 1994.
In October 2004, a much publicized affair with Delta Goodrem had soured and seriously damaged his standing after newspapers alleged that he had dated Paris Hilton while with Goodrem. In March 2005, he became engaged to Miami-born actress and model Alexis Barbara. The Age reported the pair had split in July 2006, but Philippoussis has denied this to Australian tabloid New Idea.
He confirmed to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph on August 23, 2006, that he fired his father as his coach and rehired Peter McNamara in an attempt to revive his career.
The Age of Love
Philippoussis stars as the bachelor in the reality television dating show Age of Love on the NBC television network, beginning June 18, 2007. The show center’s around women in their 40s and women in their 20s competing for his affection. At first this 6′5 hearthrob was shocked at the ages of the “Cougars ” as the older women are called. The “Kittens” , the younger women , seemed to be very cocky when they heard they were going against the older women.

The producers of this show are morons. For this to be a fair situation, the male contestant should be 35….**NOT** 30! This makes it skewed towards the 20-somethings right from the start.
A 35 year old is in the MIDDLE between the extreme age of a 40-something (i.e., 49 going on 50) & the extreme age of a 20-something (i.e., just turned 20). Then he would be around 15 years from both of these extremes if he were 35.
INSTEAD, a 30 year old is only 10 years older than a 20 y.o. & almost TWENTY years younger (YIKES !!) than a 49 year old !!
On the other end, a 30 year old can be very close in age to a 20-something (if she’s 29 y.o.), yet can only get to be 10 years close in age to the youngest 40-something (a 40 year old).
Not only are they morons, but they’re D*^che B#gs for censoring my post on their site when I pointed this out.

[…] Age of Love came to a close tonight and Mark Philippoussis did not chose to go Cougar hunting… The former tennis pro chose the twenty year old Amanda. Sure, Amanda is great (we suppose) but he should have chosen Jen the Cougar… This was predictable I’d say: […]

I think somebody with Mark’s looks and ability that it would be disgusting for him to date a woman old enough to be his mother. Im sure Jen wouldnt approve if a child of hers, the same age as Mark, dated somebody of her age. Its disgusting. She may look good on the outside but that doesnt make her a nice person ..
