That loss got me all choked up… the wrong way. Let’s replace him with Tommy Amaker.
September 1st, 2007 at 5:34 pm
Replace him with Ms Teen South Carolina. I bet she could find the end zone on a map, like such as…
September 1st, 2007 at 6:51 pm
Don’t fire Lloyd, he’s the best thing to happen to the Buckeyes after hiring Jim Tressel. Keep him on!!
September 1st, 2007 at 6:52 pm
You have disgraced every Michigan fan in the world Lloyd…. Leave Ann Arbor tonight, you are the worst thing to happen to the Wolverines.
September 1st, 2007 at 7:09 pm
NBC must really be wanting to fire Lloyd now that both Mich and ND could really be 0-2 by the time they meet.
September 1st, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Unreal. I had a feeling he wouldn’t have his team ready once again. Every year it is getting worse and worse. Recruiting is going to be in the serious hurt locker unless we bring someone soon after this season is over. From what I saw today and in the past three years we will never have a champion until we get a go getter coach and not one that can get his players motivated. You can’t blame the defense all the time.
September 1st, 2007 at 8:03 pm
hilarious…but so sad at the same time…i’m not a M fan, but I hate ohio state…i feel for you guys
September 1st, 2007 at 8:31 pm
Lloyd Carr is an archaic anachronism in modern college football and he won’t adjust his philosophy. Ann Arbor needs change to compete!
September 1st, 2007 at 9:07 pm
Once again par for the course. Not really unexpected, and to make matters worse couldn’t watch the game as it is only carried now on the BIG TEN NETWORK. There’s a day coming soon when there’ll be more pride in saying you’re a Lions fan than U-M football. Maybe Millen and Lloyd discuss strategy together.
September 1st, 2007 at 9:31 pm
Wow, sept. 1 2007 will be a ” day that will live in infamy,” the implications aren’t just what the loss means to this season, looking to the future, the recruiting….. I can’t see why any young man would be excited to join this program! Is this the “END ?”I hope it is the end of Carr, anybody but Carr!
September 1st, 2007 at 10:32 pm
It was bad enough the last few years when Michigan couldn’t beat the Ohio States and the USCs now things have really gotten bad. Not only has Lloyd Carr robbed all us fans of an entire season of Michigan football but can you imagine being the seniors on that team? My heart goes out to Henne, Hart and Long, this was supposed to be the year Michigan climbed to the top, now all they can do is play spoiler. WHAT A DISGRACE. WE NEED A NEW LEADER IN THE HOUSE THAT YOST BUILT. FIRE CARR TODAY!!
September 1st, 2007 at 11:28 pm
I felt sick to my stomache.. I live in the west coast and was listening to the game on radio.. I had to pull over to scream my lungs out and throw up.. This is a nightmare.. We should have got Jim Harbaugh last year to replace this old fart…. CARR needs to go.. This is embarrasing.. No Michigan fan should tolerate this.. Worst college Football upset in history… I feel betrayed.. I bleed maze and blue…
Please get rid of CARR…
September 1st, 2007 at 11:41 pm
SICK, SICK AND EVEN MORE SICK. Carr needs to go. Biggest upset. seriously, how did that happen, it was so embarrasing. Im still feeling ill. I agree with everything Brad says. This was a betrayal
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:14 am
When is the last time UofM beat a team with a mobile QB? Why don’t we ever have one?
September 2nd, 2007 at 6:55 am
Game planning would be nice for a change. How to prepare to play Michigan? Use a spread offense and blitz Henne on every play. Simple.
September 2nd, 2007 at 7:01 am
How the mighty have fallen
In 1997 we couldn’t lose a game
In 2007 our hearts are full of shame
This is the worst loss ever so I guess it’s only up from here
Once again my hopes are crushed I’ll have to wait another year
Please fire Lloyd, I can’t take his foolish stubborn pride
Lets return this great program back to the Victors side
Oh how the mighty have fallen from glory to grace
Fielding Yost is rolling over saying “Oh no he couldn’t have, Not in my place?”
September 2nd, 2007 at 7:18 am
What do you think Bo would say if he were still alive? No matter how close he and Lloyd were, this is business, right? Bo is and would be boiling. This isn’t a black eye for the program, this is paraylsis to the program. New blood is needed badly and not soon enough. The fans can and should be heard by making a statement next week against Oregon in the Big House. DON’T SHOW UP!!! Anything under 100,000 fans would be a knock to our program and coaching staff and it would let our fans be heard in a big way. Tradition, the best of the best and prestige has gone from a slow decline at Michigan to a rapid and alarming rate. We’re not going to get the best of the best anymore and we really haven’t been in recent years. You’re telling me that there is no one better to play D-tackle than Will Johnson? Don’t get me wrong, we do have very talented personel, but when the coaches fail to utilize them properly and fail to TURN THE PAGE with play calling, we will be nothing more than an also ran, content with bouncing around in the top 25 every year. If Lloyd is happy with 9-3 and 10-2 records every year and it looks as if he is, because he shared a National Championship with Nebraska 10 years ago and that has bought him this extended life as Michigan’s coach until now. U of M needs to replace Lloyd Carr, the sooner the better. Name an interim coach and then go get someone who can coach today’s game and not the 3 yards and a cloud of dust that is just plain and simply, OUTDATED!!!
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:13 am
carr should have been fired three years ago. This is MICHIGAN. (or was) Nothing less than national championships should be acceptable. He is the worst motivator I have ever seen. This team is filled with all-americans every year, yet he can not compete with a Division II team. YOU SUCK lloyd!!!
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:46 am
carr should have been fired last year. He has turned michigan into a joke. Hart and manningham didnt play untill the 2nd half….are you kidding!! People missing assignments and just overall not being ready….terrible coaching…..fire carr please!!!!!!!!
September 2nd, 2007 at 9:36 am
if lloyd was japanese he would commit herikeri.since hes not he should be a man and step down.in fact all these old school conservative coaches should step down.they are a disgrace.if players dont respect their coach they damn sure wont respect a team like app state.
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Lloyd Carr has continually allowed weak teams and programs to compete against the greatest college football team in the country. His general lack of leadership is crippling our progra. We are doomed to mediocrity as long as Carr is at the helm. Free the Wolverines, FIRE LLOYD CARR!
September 2nd, 2007 at 2:34 pm
How does he not have this team and this offense ready for the start of the season…again, I was at the game and never in my life have i had this feeling as a Michigan fan. We need a coach who coaches to win; every play, every game
September 2nd, 2007 at 2:42 pm
My head cannot take Lloyd carr screw up s anymore I punched out a neighbor because he laughed at michigan . I AM not the calm ,and collected guy that I like to be When that useless
September 2nd, 2007 at 3:36 pm
I am so tired of the same playcalling style - run, run, pass, kick. I’m tired of being so predictable in that sense. I’m tired of Lloyd being coach. Sorry Lloyd, you gotta go, and that time is now.
September 2nd, 2007 at 5:11 pm
enough is enough…..not only is Lloyd Carr an enbarassment to UM, now he is making a mockery of the entire Big Ten……he has to go…….
September 2nd, 2007 at 5:13 pm
Carr’s offensive plays were created by his brother (caveman) on the geico commercials! I’m sick of the primitive offensive playbook!!! Fire the bum!!!!
September 2nd, 2007 at 6:14 pm
I hope Michigan loses every game this year. Please fire Lloyd and put M fans out of our misery. Isn’t Les Miles sick of coaching fast, athletic players who win home games and beat the teams they should beat and are able to contain a mobile QB? I also hear Jim Harbaugh is available….
September 2nd, 2007 at 6:54 pm
Thank God the game wasn’t available in Alaska where I live. I’ve spent the past week wearing the colors to try and get some good smack going where I teach with all of the Buckeye and ND fans. I’m in for it on Tuesday to say the least. Who would coach if they fired Carr now, and would any of us want one of them in charge? Lloyd and his staff need to go, and they will. Christ, what are Dixon and Stewart going to do to us next?
September 2nd, 2007 at 9:58 pm
Michigan football has been rather tenuous the last few years and now the ice is beginning to crack. I’ve cursed Lloyd Carr over and over and over again, and now I’m to the point where I only keep a remote eye on these guys, for sanity’s sake. However, I am sorry that we are now the laughing stocks of college football!!
September 3rd, 2007 at 11:00 am
Lloyd must go, hes like grape nuts or oatmeal. It’s time for some new blood!
September 3rd, 2007 at 12:35 pm
That is the end!
September 3rd, 2007 at 1:24 pm
That was the most disgusting display of coaching i’ve ever seen, Lloyd has taken the greatest football power house and made them a complete joke. After the game was over I heard my dad say something, that I have never heard him say before and that was maybe we should get some green and white. Thanks Lloyd
September 3rd, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Embarrassed at every bowl game, at every Ohio State game, every game played against a west coast team and now losing to a 1-AA team while ranked in the top five. Worst part is he doesn’t care. Watch any interview…simply not a leader, no emotion. Fire him now and lest get ready for next year. I vote for the head Coach of Appalachian State as Michigan’s new head coach.
September 3rd, 2007 at 3:13 pm
This is the last time I set foot in Michigan Stadium until they fire Lloyd. He has no passion for football anymore. He admits that winning a football game doesn’t seem that important. I’m tired of the seven play playbook that we run. I’m tired of the same read and react defense we have been running for 20 years under him. I’m just sick over Harbaugh making those comments because he would have been perfect. It was any time we played a team with the same talent as us we would lose. It’s not that way anymore. App. St. is just a little larger than Wayne St. Are you freaking kidding me Lloyd? What’s next we going to take on Olivet College so we can win a game? I can take it anymore, all the money I pay for season tickets, all the money I spend on Michigan stuff for my kids! MICHIGAN! DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIRE LLOYD NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 3rd, 2007 at 4:12 pm
Playing not to lose……players continually drafted into the NFL but underachieving at Michigan….loves calling those 3 yard out patterns on 3rd and 7 (Michigan must hold the record for completing 3rd down passes and not getting a first down)…and 9 and 2 or 8 and 3 is acceptable year after year. So why stick your neck out and play for a national championship?
September 3rd, 2007 at 7:21 pm
[…] Lloyd’s Car - better than the one in Michigan. […]
September 3rd, 2007 at 8:02 pm
wow what a poor job coaching this week. How can a D IAA school with twenty two fewer scholarships and a total of a one point five million dollar football budget even come close to Michigan. SPEED KILLS and it showed. The michigan secondary is porous and has no chance covering speed receivers. The Defensive Coordinator should be fired to start with. Carr cannot motivate these players at all. Three losses in a row now. Get ready for a six loss season now.
Maybe its a blessing for Mich fans. Carr should resign. He would if he was a Wolverine Fan. He would fire himself.
September 3rd, 2007 at 8:34 pm
First, I can understand how upset you michigan fans( old and new ) are about your loss but that was one hell’va team that beat you guys! If you really know, have played and understand college football, firing a quality person like coach carr is not going to solve anything. I know he has had his frustrations with Ohio state but the Big Ten is a very tough conference. Coach carr is one of the best coaches in the nation, so let him do what he knows best, which is coach/teach. Your running back Hart said it simply ” we got beat by a very good team, so take your hat off to them”. Coach carr, staff and players will make their adjustments, bounce back and beat the ducks. You blue fans need to calm down and relax. Us USC fans know how to roll with the punches. Now, we have the best coach in the nation !!!!
September 3rd, 2007 at 10:54 pm
wHAT A FARCE–lIKE A 16TH SEED IN TH NCAA BASKETBALL TOURNEY BEATING A NUMBER 1 SEED. LIKE TIGER WOODS WITH A 10 SHOT LEAD ON A SUNDAY AND LOSING THE TOURNEY. LLOYD’ GOTTA GO NOW BEFORE ANY MORE OF THIS CRAP HAPPENS. HE SAID HE DIDN’T HAVE HIS PLAYERS READY, FOR GODS SAKE HE HAS HAD SINCE jANUARY OF THIS YEAR TO PREPARE THEM HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE??? THOUGHT I’D NEVER SAY THIS BUT GO BUCKEYES AND GO GREEN. LLOYD CARR SUCKS AND I DONT SEE IT GETTING ANY BETTER. AND THIS IDIOT FOR A DEFENSIVE COACH. HE IS WITHOUT A QUESTION THE WORST DEFENSIVE COACH SINCE THE BOBBY ROSS ERA AT ARMY. i WAS A A STORE TODAY WITH MY MICHIGAN HAT ON AND A SPARTAN FAN ASKED ME HOW MICHIGAN STATE DID SATURDAY AND ASKED IF MICHIGAN PLAYED THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES.
September 4th, 2007 at 8:49 am
Fire Carr? Carr was not on the field. Perhaps those with enough guts might want to query Administration about those free rides those players got for signing to play at MI. Or for those with really big ‘nads, how about asking MI football players to their faces if they are willing to give back their scholarships for non-performance? After all, academic scholarships are linked to performance criteria, most often with a B average. Why not hold the same to these “students of higher learning” who patrol the gridiron?
September 4th, 2007 at 9:50 am
Llyod Carr has got to go! Carr’s offensive schemes are the same year after year. They are out of date and uncreative.
September 4th, 2007 at 10:33 am
IT’S TIME!!!!!!! NO IT’S WAY PAST TIME.
Bo is probably turning in his grave…God rest his soul.
September 4th, 2007 at 11:36 am
3 years in the making. They had 10 months to fix their defense following the loss against Ohio State. Fire English and Carr. Teach Henne how to throw. Underthrowing the receivers and overthrowing them is unacceptable at this level as a senior. Bring on Jim Harbaugh, at least he is opinionated and might light a fire under those kids.
September 4th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
The climb to mediocrity is now complete! It took a few years but we got there. Slow players, players who never got better, OSU defeats, bowl game defeats, and now this!!
Lloyd, you need to hand the game to someone who can again rebuild the program that you have so quickly dismantled.
September 4th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Lets start playing like MICHIGAN again.
September 4th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
Michigan has everything. Michigan has the fans. Michigan has the facilities. Michigan has the money. Michigan has the athletes, and Michigan has the tradition. It seems to me that Michigan has everything except a coach equal to the stature of the Michigan program. Michigan needs to combine the stature of its program with a coach of similar stature. Hmm, is there a coach out there who is befitting a program like Michigan. Hmm, what successful coach is currently out there who has the same stature as the Michigan program but his current team/university does not measure up to his great status? Can you dare say Coach Steve, Evil Genius, Darth Visor, Old Ball Coach Spurrier. The thought boggles the mind. Spurrier would do to the Big Ten what he did to the SEC…change the game and dominate. His no talented South Carolina teams are 1-1 against Florida, losing to the Gators by 1 point last year. Think of the possibilities of the Evil Genius roaming the Michigan sidelines with his plans for destroying defenses being carried out by the likes of Michigan’s current offensive talents. I don’t think the football gods would ever allow it…it would be too unfair. All Spurrier has done on the college level is win. He took Duke to the ACC crown..twice. Hello…that’s Duke. His exploits at Florida are well documented. Now he even has South Carolina beating teams that they never beat in the past, and to everyone’s shock South Carolina just had the best recruiting class in the history of the school - #5. On second thought, Spurrier to Michigan would upset the college football landscape too much. Imagine Albert Einstein in control of Frankenstein.
September 4th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
This shameful humilation is just a continuance of the utter incompetence this guy has. He is of the old era….. real old. He was able to win when there wasn’t all the parity there is today. He has the best players but he could not motivate them, he has never developed anyone, and he chokes on both the big games and the small ones.
I will not wear nor buy any M merchandise until he is gone.
This is just disgusting. Its hard to keep the pride up when we are beaten time after time.
Let him go now, and get someone in there who can use the rest of the year to develop their plan and get situated.
September 4th, 2007 at 2:57 pm
Oh, yeah, one more thing. Steve above is out of touch with reality. (Must be a relative.)
September 4th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Let’s all take a collective pause for a moment and realize that this was one of the greatest days in college football history. That’s right. In it’s entirety, it’s the best thing that could happen for college football. And I say that as a UM and OSU alum and a lifelong Columbus resident who lives across the street from Jim Tressel.
It proved that anyone can beat anyone, that anyone can outcoach anyone, and that with young men, still teenagers, not fully grown even, there are David’s that still slay Goliaths. That makes people watch ANY game with hope that their underdog will pull through. And it makes the arrogant elitists realize that if they get too fat headed, they can and will be made low. When OSU prepares for a game Jim Tressel never takes ANY opponent for granted, no matter who they are.
As for UM it’s like 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and Waterloo all rolled into one big Hydrogen bomb dropped on the 50 yard line for all to see, with great illumination, that their coach has no desire left and needs to go. As much as I love the man for his principles and character, there will be no more Lloyd backers in the future. Even my kids can see he has lost his cool and his heart.
So why is that loss the best thing that can happen? Because It leaves no room for controversey or debate whether Lloyd or some assistant will resume in 2008. Because for a change in tradition, UM will not recruit from within like they have the past 40 years during the BO/Moeller/Lloyd era- but they will fill the position (not during, but after the season after Lloyd is given his due and an appropriate appreciation/farewell for 20 plus years of service) with the best coaching applicant possible. Just like when Elliot got fired in ‘68, this will be the turning point for the program, the entire coaching staff house will be cleaned out, and a new era of excellence will begin.
September 4th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
Leave my husband alone.
September 4th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
It’s nice to know there are finally some people on the bandwagon. This is about 5 years overdue. I will never donate a single dollar to my alma mater until Carr is gone!
Conservative playcalling and 15 yard cushions on a zone defense are a thing of the past. There is no reason this defense shouldn’t have the talent to play man to man and bump and run coverage. Get with the times UM!
September 4th, 2007 at 5:38 pm
As a LSA UM Graduate 1985, I am mortified. Unfortunately the “Michigan Attitude,” a/k/a “excellence,” is no longer applicable to our beloved Football program. Carr is what he is, his record is not excellent. He should resign immediately, and lets get back to beating Ohio State and seriously competing for a National Title. We can do it, we are Michigan, and accepting this performance by a coach is simply a travesty of the Michigan Tradition. One simple question - “Is Llyod Carr excellent?” Lets get it back.
September 4th, 2007 at 7:35 pm
Carr does just enough (avoid a total implosion) so keep his job each season. That’s not good enough for Michigan. This unimaginative mediocre has taken our beloved program low enough. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse……. Keeping him would amount to celebrating mediocrity. FIRE CARR ALREADY!
September 4th, 2007 at 8:01 pm
You armchair quarterbacks make me sick! Last year I was God when we were ranked number 2 but when we lose your first response is for me to retire. The answer is simple; we need to get back to getting good players out of Ohio. Yes, Ohio, when we had 11-13 Buckeyes starting but we are not getting those players anymore. We have football players sons going to Ohio State to play so lets get loyal to Michigan and get your son’s following in their fathers footsteps and returning to their alma mater.
September 4th, 2007 at 8:05 pm
Show some respect to coach Carr. He has forgotten more football that some of you have ever known.
September 4th, 2007 at 8:39 pm
Wow - really wish I didn’t have season tickets anymore. My son’s high school team is far more in shape and impressive. Please have the decency to step aside, Lloyd, and keep the the “Wolverine” from becoming extinct.
September 4th, 2007 at 9:03 pm
Jim Harbaugh only got it half right: not only have they relaxed academic standards for the players, but they’re also lowered their athletic standards.
September 4th, 2007 at 11:53 pm
He should have been fired two years ago. He is pathetic, his play calling is amateur, he’s got zero personality, he wasted the most talented team in the NCAA last year and because he is so bad, no one made that point. I would have fired him at halftime of the app st. game. If he doesn’t go come season end, I renounce my Michigan ties.

Lets face it! Carr is almost more pathetic than the other Big Ten schools reaction to Michigan losing. Michigan State fans and players saying they felt like they won twice. Let me take that back, Carr is just as pathetic as them! Just make sure you other Big Ten schools don’t lose to this pathetic coach. And make you don’t lose to the team that lost to App. St. How would that make you look?
September 5th, 2007 at 9:21 am
It is time to let Carr go!!! He did not have the wolverines ready this last week. To get spanked by a Division 2A team is an icredible embarassment to everyone that is a Michigan Wolverine fan. He has disappointed us fans to long. He cant win against Ohio State or in a bowl game. It is time to get him out of there….
September 5th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
WORST GAMEDAY COACH IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL! He and his coaches consistently get outschemed, and lack the ability to make in-game adjustments. I have been saying it for years! GET RID OF LLOYD!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 5th, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Thanks lloyd for the memories. God bless you in your retirement. Michigan needs to go in a new direction. Speed is what is needed as well as better coaching. WE will beat osu,but lloyd is gone after the season.
September 5th, 2007 at 8:08 pm
Carr Sucks….. I am from Columbus Ohio a die hard Michigan fan all my life. I want to win. I am so tired of all the dumb ass Ohio State fans. They are the most ignorant people alive. I hear it every place I go and this game was just the cherry on the sundae. Why Lloyd why. Just go and retire make it easy on yourself and us. You make me sick…………Matt
September 6th, 2007 at 12:07 am
Get rid of this guy now!!!! 5 and 1 against the sweater-vest. and i don’t even remember the last time we won a bowl game might have been against tennessee). Now, three straight losses? That’s not the Michigan i know. That’s not the Michigan i spend falls rooting my heart out for. This guy doesn’t know how make adjustments at the half, and quite frankly, it doesn’t seem like he can get his players motivated anymore. how do you keep out mike hart for almost two quarters when it was clear that he wanted to play the entire game regardless of the fact that he may have been dinged up. It couldn’t have been that bad considering the fact that when he came back in, he continued to tourch mountineer defense on the ground. Oh, and by the way, he was one of the front runners for the heisman at the start of the season. After dropping out of the top 25, it wouldn’t surprise me if mike took a similar hit in the heisman race. Bad coaching decision lloyd! Bottom line, llllloyd, as the buckeye fans refer to him, simply gets out coached in big games. After loosing to osu and usc, you would think he could adjust his defense for the deficiencies they show to a spread offense. But no! let’s keep doing the same thing. Did he not look a tape of the mountineers prior to facing them?what did he think they were gonna do? Come into the big house and forget their play book? Again, a sign of lloyd being out-coached. It has been over a decade since the michigan’s last national chamionship. The talent has been there, but apparently, the coaching has not. It’s time to go lloyd!
September 6th, 2007 at 4:52 am
Losing to a I-AA team is inexcusable. This once elite program has become irrelevant.
September 6th, 2007 at 7:06 am
I think that Coach Carr has done a great job running the program since he has
been there. I do believe that the game is changing drastically to new high powered offense and defense, and that Coach Carr is out of touch with this type
of game. I think Coach Carr should step down after this year is over because
U of M is already out of the national title hunt and that is what all about and it is
already over for Michigan. I believe that the first person to lead the list of possible
coaches to replace Carr is the coach of Appalation State.
September 6th, 2007 at 9:37 pm
Graduated in 1980 and 1982…stuck around until we won a Rose Bowl. Lloyd should resign effective at the end of the season right now and the AD should work on getting Les Miles in fold.
Think about it…we havn’t won a freakin’ game since Bo died!!! Talk about karma??
How could you have a team completely unprepared for 2 consecutive games. Get rid of Lloyd and the staff. Ron English is a defensive idiot. He couldn’t stop a spread offense if his life depended on it.
Hey, could Bill McCartney come out of retirement?
Lastly though, the AD should resign too. This was as much his fault as Lloyd’s. Why in the hell would you schedule a two consecutive Div IAA champion? You know they are most likely at worst the number 50 team in the country in D I. Remember this level gave us Walter Payton and Jerry Rice, arguably the best RB and WR in the history of the game. This was a freakin’ stupid game to schedule. Hell, if you want to give somebody a $400,000 payday give it to Michigan Tech or Grand Valley State!!
September 7th, 2007 at 8:55 am
U of M has lost is appeal and grace, what a disgrace to the Big Ten. But Michigan has been falling for sometime since Ohio State fired Cooper. So, do the right thing and fire Carr. I think John Cooper is available.
Go BUCKS (see ya in Ann Arbor)
September 8th, 2007 at 8:23 am
I like Lloyd Carr as a person, but he was not hired to be ‘a person’, as a coach he has lived on his 1997 National Championship for too long. I said 7 years ago that Michigan teams were getting worse over time with him as coach. His teams are ill-prepared and unmotivated. Last year’s high ranking was a mirage as both Michigan and Ohio State’s bowl games demonstrated.
The ridiculous and out-dated plan of Michigan ‘playing for the Big 10 title’ is absurd. Michigan needs to be playing for National Championships.
There are too many coaches out there who could do the job better than Carr, and it’s well past time to get one of them.
September 8th, 2007 at 9:06 am
I wouldn’t vote lloyd carr for dog catcher! I’m sure the ol folk’s home is looking for him. He’s not only a discrace to all michigan fan but the whole sports world! Lloyd stinks! Do the respectable thing and put in ron english so we can beat the buckeyes and win a national championship! FIRE LLOYD OR BE LOSERS!
September 8th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
Lloyd’s approval rating is even lower than “W’s. Fire him now”
September 8th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
I will just put it this way, I am done with following Michigan Wolverine football until Llyod Carr is gone. Through college football history, Michigan has the best record, most bowl wins, they are a great team, but everything has gone downhill since Carr. So therefore, I’m done until he is gone.

TIME FOR A CHANGE…0-2…
September 8th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
What a SAD DAY IN ANN ARBOR…2 WKS IN A ROW AND MICHIGAN LOOKED WORSE THAN A BAD HIGH SCHOOL TEAM.
IT IS PAST TIME FOR LLOYD AND COMPANY TO GO. I HAVE WATCHED MICHIGAN PLAY FOR 40+ YEARS, AND NEVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD FALL THIS FAR.
LLOYD CANNOT MOTIVATE, AND HIS COACHES ARE JUST AS BAD. HOW MUCH MORE DO WE HAVE TO TAKE? YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE ANY RECRUITS WANTING TO PLAY FOR MICHIGAN? WHY COME TO MICHIGAN WHEN THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER RESPECTABLE SCHOOLS WHO KNOW HOW TO WIN.
I WILL NOT WATCH ONE MORE DOWN OF MICHIGAN FOOTBALL THIS YEAR…..I CANNOT STAND TO SEE SUCH GREAT TRADITION GO DOWN THE DRAIN…..
September 8th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
Lloyd Carr is a disgrace to a wonderful team! We have so much talent and game after game he fails to use our talent! We were so unprepared today! Thats because he don’t know how to prepare a team! He is a huge disgrace to all of us LOYAL MICHIGAN FANS!!!!!!!! Carr should just be a man and resign screw firing him!!!!!!!!!! Sitting at that game listening to people talk about how embarassed they were to be Michigan fans sickened me!!! Michigan fans have never been embarassed until Carr!!!! TIME FOR CARR TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 8th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
Wow!! Well since having a chance at last years national title lloyd has wore that 1997 playbook right the hell out. Fact is the days of 3 yards are a cloud of dust are way gone. As Michigan fans seem to be noting the only dust we want to see is Lloyds leaving town. Seems to me after 4 losses in a row, one to Appalachian State for crying out loud, he would just scuttle out of town when the lights went out. If that don’t happen its time for Michigan football to look at the future style of football. He is not capable of this. His mentality is cavemanish. Long live Bo but those days are gone. Lets move forward or not buy no more tickets until they do.
September 8th, 2007 at 7:17 pm
First of all, Michigan didn’t schedule the 2 time 1AA champion. they make the schedule years in advance. now to the real important issue, there is a great coach sitting over in california that we might be able to lure over here. Jeff tedford has turned Cal into a powerhouse and did it quick. he is in the same state and conferance as famed UCLA and USC. thats a tough job when you are recruiting directly with them, so you know he can recruit. so im all for the scrap the carr campaign and hire Jeff Tedford.
September 8th, 2007 at 7:56 pm
I’ve had enough of calling for carr to be fired, it does no good. The stupid and idiotic moron who is running our beloved U of M won’t fire him. The racist president should be fired and then the new president should hang Carr from the goal post. Stop donating to Michigan until we get the changes that U of M fans deserve.
September 8th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
well two down and 11 more to go. maybe next year Michigan can schedule West Virginia Tech on their schedule I see they lost to someone today 9-8-07 by the score of 87-0 . maybe just maybe they could have a chance to win against them. but make sure its a home game because Michigan has lost at home twice already and but the 110,000+ fans keep showing up. I watched them on TV today but changed it in the 3rd quarter because the defensive team was pretty offensive to me. they were so bad that from the 3rd quarter on i blocked the game so my kids would not see how bad it has gotten at Michigan. i say fire LLoyd Carr and also Ron English (defensive Co-ord) i guess thats his title but you would not know that.
September 9th, 2007 at 4:47 am
I am just preaching to the choir by signing this petition, however, I have been seeing this decline for over 5 years and I wanted to cook Lloyd’s goose. I am a former player who played for Bo in the mid 70’s. Many players who played for Bo knew one thing, that he was dogmatic and he didn’t take any prisoners. Unfortunately, Bo is no longer with us and just to clear the air and make no mistake we would have cleaned Appalachain State and Oregon’s Clock. My concern is the mental preparation of Lloyd Carr, the coaches and the players. This starts from the top down. Football is 70 to 80 percent mental and 20 to 30 percent physical. To hear Carr state that if anyone knows him that he is a fighter and competitor, why can’t he be just a great coach; to hear him say that he’s not going to lay down..don’t worry you have already laid down for 2 weeks (I expect more) and to allow Oregon to kick a mudhole up your you know what is ridiculous. The following 2 weeks have been a travesty and an embarrassment for Michigan fans, alum and former players. It’s time for Lloyd and his ineptitude to go as well as his staff. Hey, I like Ron English but he’s not getting the job done either….and don’t let the door knob hit you where the good Lord split you. Enough talking about the Clown Tribe of Ann Arbor. Okay let’s look to the future (next year) all of you that are in favor of hiring Les Miles, say aye..aye, the ayes have it. I know that he has a $1.25 million dollar buyout clause but he’s well worth it especially knowing that AD Bill Martin just secured a multi-million dollar licensing agreement with Adidas..so the money is there. Les is not a “Yes Man” so I know this is something that Bill Martin and Mary Sue Coleman may have an issue with…and what else is new. If the Head Coaching job is available at the end of this horrible season and Bill Martin does not interview and offer the position to Les and should Mary Sue Coleman not comply..I want to see Bill Martin, Mary Sue Coleman heads on a silver platter along with Lloyd’s. If we have to clean house to re-establish this great tradition than I am all for starting from the TOP. As for those recruits who have verballed to Michigan and are looking to reconsider because Lloyd is gone……BYE!!! The athletic programs should not be held hostage to no person or no group..this includes Coaches, AD’s, Presidents, Regents. As Alum and Fans we have to power to extort and exploit….all we ever want to see is for the athletes who don the Maize and Blue to be successful and be given every opportunity to cherish that success!
September 9th, 2007 at 4:53 am
I made a misstatement and said “As Alum and Fans we have to power to extort and exploit” I meant to say that “As Alum and Fans we don’t have the power to extort and exploit”.
September 9th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
LLoyd Carr is a Joke. He builds a defense to stop Ohio States offense of…….1982! The game seems to have passed Llyod by years ago and cannot compete with the higher caliber coaches and now after the first two weeks this year, he can’t even compete against lower caliber coaches and teams. We need Les Miles from LSU or John Grudden from TB to come in and change the attitude and direction of this program. Llyod should have been fired years ago and now we have to wait YEARS to get back on track. The App State loss set recruiting back at least 10 years. Who would pick Mich over a top program right now. Some may even pick App. State over Mich at this point
September 10th, 2007 at 4:03 am
after 5 years of this crap I finally decided to do nthe enemy colors up in east lansing and became a season ticket holde after all they expect to be less than perfect every year and atlest I feel ok since the ticket price isn’t all that bad I now have 4 seats for what I paid for 2 in the out house as I will call it since the coach and team have stunk it up so bad this year. as I see it if he does not go I will not come back.
September 11th, 2007 at 8:48 am
In Lloyd last four games. He has taken the University of Michigan football team from #2 in the country to being a laughing stock of the Big Ten. He needed to go five years ago when we realized he has no idea how to beat Jim Tressel. One thing to Lloyd’s credit is he runs a clean program…but clean programs do not win National Championships. We need Les Miles, Jeff Tedford, or Chris Peterson to bring U of M back to the national powerhouse they once were.
September 11th, 2007 at 10:34 am
This season is a total flop and is only going to snowball with UofM’s remaining schedule. In all my years of being a Michigan fan I have never seen a more pathetic performance from any other Michigan team. I pray Llyod retires after this season and we bring a new coach(Les Miles) in with a whole new staff. Michigan needs to get up to date with the times, there are other teams in the country who somehow manage to stop mobile QB’S and to Michigan it almost always ends up in a loss. I’m hoping for the best for the rest of the season but it sure looks bleek after the first two weeks.Maybe Carr could pull a rabbit out of his conservative hat and somehow beat OSU on his going away party!!! I hope. GO BLUE
September 11th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
I bleed Maize-N-Blue and have not missed a Michigan football game in over 20 years. Next week vs. ND might be my first. I’m sick and tired of watching Lloyd Carr run this team into the ground. Even if the ‘D’ isn’t as good as it has been in the past this offense should be putting up more than enough points to secure wins….especially against Appalachian State and Oregon at the BIG House! I’m tired of his conservative approach to every game. Why go out and recruit talented offensive players if you only want to play conservative football each and every week? I feel bad for some these players because their individual skills are being wasted and their future draft positions hurt by his poor coaching. Did anyone see the movie, “Varsity Blues”? These players need to do to Lloyd Carr as the players in the movie did to John Voight…..
September 13th, 2007 at 11:46 pm
I do agree with all the Michigan faithful that it’s time for Carr to go. There’s NO excuse for us to lose to Appalachian State and Oregon AT HOME NONE THE LESS!!!!! THIS IS MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL THIS IS THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN! It may be fine for other schools to lose 4 games in a row, but the maze and blue is UNACCEPTABLE…..there is NO excuse. The players are a reflection of the coach and after watching what happened last saturday it was truly an embarrasement not just for me, but for all die hard Wolverine fans. Every year Michigan plays worse and worse. We can’t tackle. Our defense is not that great. Lloyd thank you for the National title that we won 10 YEARS AGO. Ever since then we lose to schools that we have no business losing to. I’ve been a Michigan fan for 23 years now and I know if “Bo” would have been here there would be no way we would have lost our first 2 home games. Lloyd Carr is doing a TERRIBLE job of getting the troops ready for battle. We really need to do something about this because I don’t want to be 0 - 3 and lose to Notre Dame and have Carr make up all these bogus excuses. The athletic director needs to step in before it gets worse. PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY AND GET RID OF CARR AND BRING IN LES MILES FROM LSU. He’s got maze and blue in his blood. THE SOONER YOU GET RID OF CARR THE BETTER OUR CHANCES WILL BE OF GOING TO A BOWL GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO BLUE ! ! I STILL LOVE THE BLUE.
FAITHFUL FAN
KEVIN

Im more surprised that Lloyd made it out of the Big House alive. I figured the snipers would have got him. He has to go. A new young energetic coach has to change the philosophy that has led to this fiasco.
GO BIG BLUE

Whom would you like Michigan to hire, Barabbas? It may be difficult for some of you knucklehead so called football fans (Buckeyes and Spartans etc.) to understand, but Michigan Football is so much more than winning and losing on the playing field. Bo Schembechler established a progarm whose main purpose was to build character and to positively effect each particpant’s life. Isn’t that what college is all about, knowledge, experience, character, and growing into a better human being? Too many people have lost sight of the fact that we are talking about college athletics! These eighteen, nineteen, twenty-something year olds are not professionals, nor will most ever even attempt to play at the professional level. Everyone wants to win! That is why they keep score in athletic events. However, there are so many other areas in our lives that need our attention rather than a “Fire Lloyd Carr Website.” Lloyd is a great human being and a good coach. He has continued what Schembechler started in 1969. I have been a loyal supporter of the University of Michigan Football Program as long as I can remember. I even chose to attend the university due to my desire to be a season ticket holder in 1978. Like everyone else, I too am disappointed when Michigan loses. However, I would like to see the university continue down the path where the word “athlete” is always preceeded by the word “student” and not the direction that most of the other educational institutions have turned to, win at all cost. At the University of Miami Jimmy Johnson once told Michael Irvin, “If you want to get an education, then go to Notre Dame.” I hope and pray that the mentality of the University of Michigan’s Football Program will always be focussed on shaping the character and improving the life of anyone who dons a uniform for the Maze and Blue! May Lloyd coach the team until he’s seventy!

Neemish, what have you been smoking? Aren’t you the Tony Neemish that use to date my sister at Central Michigan? She still cries herself to sleep because you broke her heart! If I ever see you again, I am going to kick your butt! And, I say FIRE LLOYD! What does Linda Lovelace and Lloyd Carr have in common? They both choke on the big one! Don’t tell me that you have never heard of Linda Lovelace? I asked you not to tell me that! I read that one on the bathroom wall at U-M. It was right above, “Flush twice. It’s a long way to the cafeteria.” And right below, “Kick me. Beat me. Hurt me. Make me write bad checks.” You University of Michigan guys are really clever. NOT!!!

Randy,
Your sister is cute. Tell her I said hello.

[…] Here is your chance to vote on the coach you would least like to have in charge of your team. These past few weeks have provided many able candidates, but who is the least good. Is it Bill Belichick, who is willing to cheat to win and has no friends. Is it Willie Randolph, who is about to lead his team to a winless finish in the New York Mets final homestand, and a post-season miss after leading the NL East for almost five straight months? Is it Greg Ryan, who sat his star goalie in the US Women’s World Cup, only to play someone who performed well in the past, but was clearly rusty? Or is it everyone’s favorite coach of the Big Blue, Lloyd Carr? Vote Here: […]

As a young woman who loves U of M football, I am tired of watching my father, the strongest man I know, become so upset and aggrevated every year.
We did so well last season and should’ve beat Ohio State but Carr, you prevented that with your idiotic coaching.
This year is the last straw.
There is nowhere to go but up and Michigan will hopefully decide to leave you on the ground.
November 9th, 2007 at 5:16 pm
OK, so we still have a game against Wisconsin and 8 days until we play Ohio State, but I’m already pumped. Still though, I believe the only way Lloyd Carr keeps his job is by beating Ohio State.
He’s been Michigan’s Joe Cooper, and I was sad when he got fired from Ohio State. Ohio State fans will be sad to see Lloyd go, but I’m getting off the point.
Beat Ohio State, or lose your job Lloyd.
That’s the only game that matters. I HATE OHIO STATE!
November 11th, 2007 at 9:23 am
I always thought it would be great to have the Michigan and Michigan State programs at the same level with close games between each other. Well, take a look. If Michigan pulls their usual swoon in the last two games (the last three years they’ve lost to Ohio St and the bowl game) that would give them 5 losses. Right now MSU is at 5 losses. When I hoped they would be have comparable programs I thought it was a given MSU would improve. Instead, Michigan continues to get worse and act like it’s an aberration. Thanks, Lloyd. You’ve put U of M on the same level as MSU
November 12th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
Carr sucks he can’t win the big games. All the talent Michigan has and still nothing. He must go until then I turn my back on Michigan.
November 17th, 2007 at 1:33 pm
I hate Llyod Carr he needs to be fired and Chad Henne Sucks Cock, Henne is gone but i hope Carr will be too. They cant beat the Buckeyes or win a GODDAMN Bowl game im fucking fed up with it especialy living in OHIO alos I hope Les Miles gets The job on SportsCenter he up and siad he wants The job.
November 17th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
Thanks again Lloyd I really hope you don`t step down. You are doing a great job. Your teams have been a joke for well let`s just say 7 years 6-1 the last 7 years.
November 17th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
MICHIGAN WHO?
November 17th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
the game has clearly passed him by….
He is a great recruiter, so give him a respectable position in recruiting. We need a coach who can prepare the team for game after game. Motivate the players and train them for every game…..
Only talent doesnt win. Talent needs to be trained too.
November 17th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Jim Tressel is Lloyd Carrs Daddy
November 17th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
GET LES MILES IN THERE WE NEED LES MILES AND THANK GOD HENNE IS GONE RYAN MALLETT WAS DOING ETTER THEN CHAD TODAY NOT MUCH PUT WE WAS NOT THROWING IT A MILE PAST TH WR AND MANNINGHAM DROPED EVERY THING
November 17th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
well did everyone see how bad they played? Chad henne is one of the most over rated players in um history. the whole team is just not that good any more ! i mean this team is not going to win anything any time soon with carr at the helm and bill martin needs to wake up and realize that next year we will not be the team to beat . everone has gotten better but us . illionis will be so much better the team to beat . osu will be ok as long as tressel is there we will not beat him any time soon!!!!!! the rest of the big ten will be better and us we will loose henne thank god for that hart will be missed. and jake long . this is one of the worse teams i have ever seen !!!!!!!!!! i have been watching big blue for 23 years have seen alot of football and its time for carr to go . we don’t hit like we used to and we don’t tackle like we used to . we used to be one best teams in recruting , now we are third or fourth in the big ten will bill martin plz put us out of our misery AND FIRE LLOYD CARR TODAY . SO WE CAN WIN A BOWL GAME THIS SEASON. IF YOU CARE AS MUCH ABOUT MICHIGAN AS THE FANS DO YOU WILL END THIS NOW !!!!!!!!!! HIRE LES MILES .. GO BLUE FOR LIFE
November 17th, 2007 at 3:55 pm
Lloyd is Tressel’s little bitch. Nice game Hart, Heisman my ass! Go Bucks!
November 17th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
Dear Wolverines,
My joy quickly faded as I realized that this game was probably Lloyd Carr’s last. Be the great midwest liberal instituion that you profess to be and give your coach another chance! After all, he has a few years to go to beat John Cooper’s record. You don’t want to be #2 in yet another Big Ten category, do you?
Look at Carr’s record this year. He only lost to teams that were at some point #1 in the country.. except for that one other fluke in a year of flukes. How hard you are simply because he lost a game!
He deserves a career “up north” as long as JoePa’s. This Buckeye fan begs you… Don’t sign this petition!
November 18th, 2007 at 10:40 am
Dear Lloyd,
Take care.
November 18th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
91 yards in the biggest game
COME ON!
BS
fire LLOYD before he retires that a whole
November 19th, 2007 at 7:25 am
your an idiot…
The guy is the most winning coach in the Big 10 (120-40…)
Be careful for what you ask for you might just get it!
I hate Ohio State more than most, but not at the loss of loosing all the time…
Coach Carr has done a great job at Michigan…ITS NOT ALL ABOUT THE N.C.
Even Bo did not do that - do you question him as well.
Punch out your neighbor-give me a break…
Did you even go to Michigan or are you an arm chair QB….
I bleed Maze and Blue.
I do aggree that the game has changed and Lloyd is maybe not in tune with
the new style of the game, but to want to have him fired over it…
Enough said, other than not beating Ohio State in a while - the record speaks
for itself.
john
