Where are they now: former NFL head coach Sam Wyche

(Espn.com)
In the past year or so, I had been wondering whatever happened to Cincinnati Bengals head coach Sam Wyche.
You know, that same coach that was known for his fiery ways. Whenever he spoke, he had this raspy voice that suggested he’d yelled a lot. I sometimes wonder if the Dilbert character “Loud Howard” was patterned after Wyche.
There was substance to Wyche’s style: the coach is credited with introducing the no-huddle offense into a game even when his team wasn’t in the two-minute morning. He was also head coach when the Bengals played against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIII (where the Bengals lost 20-16).
My favorite Wyche anecdote: On December 10, 1989, the Bengals hosted the Seattle Seahawks. In the game the fans pelted the field with beer bottles and other debris after what they considered to be a bad call by the referees. Wyche was called to the public address system to try to calm the crowd. He then said something like: “Will ANYBODY, seeing anybody throwing anything onto the field, point them out to security. YOU DON’T LIVE IN CLEVELAND, YOU LIVE IN CINCINNATI!”
These days, Wyche volunteers as a high school offensive coordinator of the Pickens (S.C.) Blue Flame. He’s also a college analyst for Fox Sports South and even has his own Website.
